Staff Engineer

SingaporeFull-time

Overview

As a Staff Engineer at Wisma AI, you will build and operate the systems that power our products — owning their architecture, security, and reliability in production. You've shipped and run production software before, and you bring the technical depth to make strong engineering decisions within your domain. You'll work closely with our founders, who lead the company's overall business and technical direction, translating that direction into well-architected, secure, and reliable systems. You'll stay hands-on across the stack, and use modern AI tooling as a force multiplier to move faster without compromising on quality or reliability. We run on AWS, with PostgreSQL and OpenSearch as our primary data and search layer.

This is a high-ownership, hands-on role for a senior engineer who wants deep technical impact and room to grow as the company, and its engineering team, scales.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, build, and evolve the systems that power our analytics and AI products, making sound decisions on scalability, data, and infrastructure within your domain.
  • Treat security as a first-class design constraint — threat-model, harden, and protect sensitive financial and open-source intelligence (OSINT) data.
  • Own production reliability: uptime, observability, and incident response for the systems you build.
  • Stay hands-on across the stack — ship frontend, backend, infrastructure, and data pipelines directly.
  • Leverage AI tooling to accelerate development, raising both speed and quality.
  • Partner with the founders, data scientists, product leads, and analysts to turn product and technical direction into production-grade systems.

What we're looking for

  • A proven track record building and operating production applications end-to-end.
  • Strong system design instincts, being able to architect for scale, reliability, and change.
  • Deep understanding of application and infrastructure security, with hands-on experience hardening real systems.
  • Comfortable owning production: monitoring, debugging, and resolving issues under pressure.
  • Full-stack range — fluent across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
  • Fluency with modern AI development tooling, and good judgment on where it helps and where it doesn't.
  • Hands-on experience building LLM- and agent-powered applications, with a working grasp of AI/agent observability and evaluation (evals) for non-deterministic systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD, search and retrieval systems, and data pipelines that ingest and process data at scale.
  • High ownership and strong autonomy, with the collaboration instincts to work closely with a small, technical founding team.

What we offer

  • Exposure to cutting-edge AI tools and media analysis techniques.
  • The chance to work directly with business and technical founders on products that are already in market.
  • A high-ownership role with deep technical impact and room to grow into senior technical leadership as we scale.
  • A collaborative work culture that values creativity and learning.
